About Us

Since a few years we rent out the apartments at Shortstay Witte Heren to our guests, with pleasure. Being seasoned travellers ourselves we know what makes a difference to really have a great stay. We want to facilitate this as much as possible and make your stay an unforgettable experience.

If you wish, we provide you with tips on what to see and do in and around Haarlem, including the undiscovered spots! Obviously there is substantial information provided in the form of brochures and flyers in your apartment, but we are happy to help by personally answering any specific question you may have. Whether it’s about visiting the Haarlem crown jewels such as Teylers museum and other museums, the St. Bavo church, or the latest boutique shops and trendy restaurants and lunchrooms.

In addition to historical monuments, culinary adventures (160 restaurants) and a large variety in boutiques – Haarlem has for several years been named best shopping city in the Netherlands – you will also find wonderful museums including the Teylers Museum and the Frans Hals Museum, Corry ten Boom, the Dolhuis and De Hallen. For a night out, you do not have to walk far. Short Stay Witte Heren is located between the theater, the Toneelschuur and Patronage.

From our apartments it’s just a short walk to Haarlem City center to visit the beautiful museums such as Frans Hals, Teylersmuseum, Corrie ten Boom and Dolmans.

Restaurants

Haarlem has – After Maastricht – the highest number of restaurants downtown. Especially in recent years a variety of hip and trendy restaurants has been added to the impressive number of restaurants. Some of these are just a few minutes walk from shortstay Witte Heren, for example: The Louisiana, To Amuse, De Friettent on the corner. And then this one very special: at a 5-minute walk from the apartment you will find the Jopenkerk, where you can drink the only Haarlem beer speciality, brewed in a church. Definitely worth a try.

Shopping

We have a whole variety of shops and lots of boutiques here. Haarlem has been awarded a number of years in a row as the best shopping city in the Netherlands. You will find yourself in the main streets such as the Great Houtstraat just around the corner from shortstay Witte Heren, where you will find very nice shops! And do not forget the famous Schaggelstraat area.

At a distance of 15 minutes by bike or 5 minutes by train you will find the beaches of Zandvoort and Bloemendaal. Spend a day walking on the beach, enjoy a tasty lunch in one of the hip and trendy beach bars and restaurants. The beaches and the nature of the Kennemer dunes are within cycling distance. Amsterdam can be reached by train within 15 minutes. This makes an Haarlem an ideal basecamp for your weekend or vacation.

Keukenhof Lisse

In the spring Keukenhof Lisse opens its doors, and is definitely worth a visit. Not only tourists from around the world come to the Netherlands to see these beautiful flowers, also the Dutch are very fond of the beauty and splendour of De keukenhof. Especially in the month of May when the flower parade takes place in Haarlem.

Amsterdam

It’s only a 7 minute walk to the Central Station where you can catch a train that will take you to Amsterdam Central in 15 minutes.

The beach

It’s a very nice bicycle ride from our apartments to the Bloemendaal and Zandvoort beach. If cycling is not an option, taking a train is easy enough. The train (within a 7 minute walking distance) takes you to Zandvoort in 15 minutes.

Schiphol Airport

From Schiphol Airport you can take the 300 bus (departs every 10 minutes) which takes you to Haarlem center in 25 minutes. You get off at bus stop Verwulft. From there it’s 5 minutes walk to shortstay Witte Heren.

By car

To reach the Witte Herenstraat the address to type into your navigation system is De Kraaiennest. This is the only way to reach the Witte Herenstraat with the car, because it is all one-way traffic. The next road is the Witte Herenstraat.

You can park in the parking garage Raaks, which is a 5 minutes walk from the apartment. There is a possibility to park free of charge, within 10 minutes of the apartment. When you come to stay with us, I will be happy to give you the details.

Public transportation

Haarlem is easy to reach by public transportation. The central station is at a 7-minute walking distance of our apartments.
